The difference mattered. Reference ranges, as he explained, are statistical descriptions of what is common in a given population. They do not necessarily indicate where health is best protected over time. A person may be “normal” on paper and still be drifting toward metabolic dysfunction, chronic inflammation or hormonal imbalance.
In this framing, the app sought to detect not merely disease, but erosion of resilience.
The Demonstration On Stage
The presentation became more concrete when Sovijärvi invited Teemu Arina, the curator of the Biohacker Summit and his collaborator, for a live demonstration. Arina walked the audience through his own historical blood data, using the app to show how markers were translated into recommendations.

Blood work, Arina said, had become easier to obtain over the years, but interpretation remained difficult even for motivated users. “We have created a solution for the problem of receiving laboratory results and not knowing what to do, providing personalized recommendations so you can see how you are progressing,” Sovijärvi said.
What the app did not offer, at least in the form described on stage, was a prescription pad. Its logic was not medication-first. It was behavior-first, grounded in diet, recovery, habit change and education.
Beyond Reference Ranges
If Health DX had an intellectual argument, it lay in its challenge to the tyranny of the reference range. Conventional tests, Sovijärvi suggested, often reassure too quickly. A value in the “yellow” may still be acceptable in a clinic and suboptimal in a preventive model concerned with long-term mortality, morbidity and performance.
During the demonstration, the audience saw markers that would likely pass without comment in a standard consultation but were nevertheless highlighted by the app as opportunities for improvement. This was not presented as panic-driven medicine, but as fine-tuning: a way of understanding whether a person’s biology was merely adequate or genuinely thriving.

Sovijärvi said the system had been built on more than 1,000 scientific references and months of work translating evidence into personalized logic.
