At Biohacker Summit 2020 Helsinki, held in Helsinki, Finland, on 16 October 2020, speaker Timo Kosonen presented a vision that was as much about materials as molecules. In his talk, *Vitamins From Nature*, Kosonen, a biohacker, product developer and herbalist, introduced a supplement line built around two promises: nutrients designed for food-like absorption and packaging made not from conventional plastic, but from biodegradable, wood-based Nordic raw materials.
Kosonen framed the project not as a sudden commercial turn, but as the continuation of a decades-long personal interest in health optimisation. “I have been a biohacker since the 1980s,” he said, positioning himself as both an enthusiast and a translator of science for a public increasingly wary of both ultra-processed diets and the industrial waste attached to wellness culture.
Nature As Blueprint, Finland As Workshop
The products, manufactured in Vantaa, were presented as uncompromising in both sourcing and design. Kosonen said the line drew its vitamins from plant-based foodstuffs and organic sprouts, aiming for what he described as absorption that more closely resembled the way nutrients are taken up from food.
That claim struck at a familiar anxiety in nutrition: the suspicion that pills often fail where whole foods succeed. Kosonen challenged that orthodoxy directly. “Our Panmol vitamins work very well, just like the vitamins found in food,” he said, arguing that the products had been developed to narrow the gap between supplementation and natural nutrition.

The symbolism mattered. In a market crowded with glossy plastic tubs and disposable wellness branding, the idea of vitamins housed in wood-based, recyclable packaging suggested a different kind of biohacking, one attentive not only to personal performance but also to environmental cost.

Food-Like Vitamins And A Vegan B Complex
Among the products highlighted was an organic B-vitamin complex containing all eight B vitamins. The underlying sales pitch was subtle but ambitious: these were not just isolated compounds in capsule form, but nutrients structured to behave more like food. A Quartet Of Magnesium, With The Brain In Mind
Kosonen also introduced a magnesium product combining four forms: bisglycinate, malate, glycerophosphate and acetyl taurate. Some of these, he noted, were relatively new to the Finnish market. The most eye-catching of the group was magnesium acetyl taurate, which he described as especially significant for neurological support.
“Magnesium acetyl taurate is the best form to bring magnesium to the brain through the blood-brain barrier,” he said, making one of the boldest claims of the session.
Whether heard as scientific promise or aspirational wellness language, the emphasis reflected a growing consumer interest in targeted supplementation, formulations marketed not simply for deficiency prevention but for cognitive performance, resilience and long-term brain health.
Zinc, Copper And The Problem Of Balance
The zinc formulation revealed another concern that ran through Kosonen’s talk: the importance of balance. The product combined three forms of zinc, picolinate, bisglycinate and malate, with added copper bisglycinate, plus vitamin C and vitamin B6. The rationale was practical. High-strength zinc, used over time, can deplete copper stores.
“We have added copper in the right proportion to our zinc products so that you can safely use strong zinc supplements for a long time,” Kosonen said.
That attention to proportion was one of the more grounded aspects of the presentation. In a supplement culture often driven by maximal doses and miracle claims, the insistence on mineral balance offered a quieter, more credible note.
Biohacking With A Smaller Footprint
What emerged from *Vitamins From Nature* was not simply a product launch, but a portrait of where parts of the wellness industry wanted to go in 2020: toward supplements that mimicked food, capsules that respected digestion, and packaging that acknowledged the planetary burden of health consumerism.
Kosonen’s presentation at Biohacker Summit 2020 Helsinki did not abandon the language of performance. It remained rooted in biohacking’s familiar desire to optimise, refine and improve. But it also suggested that the next frontier of self-improvement might demand a broader accounting, one that measured not only what enters the body, but what is left behind in the world.
