Turning a webinar recording into a blog post
A recorded webinar is already a blog post that has not been written down yet. The speaker made the argument, gave the examples, and answered questions. Turning it into an article is mostly a matter of getting the words on the page and shaping them.
Start from the transcript
Transcribe the recording so you are working with text, not video. A transcript lets you see the structure the speaker used and find the strongest lines.
Find the spine of the talk
Most talks have a few main points and a set of examples. Pull those out first. They become the section headings of the article.
Draft, then cut
Spoken language is looser than written. Draft the article from the transcript, then cut the repetition and the filler that made sense out loud but not on the page. Dicole produces this first draft for you, so you begin at the editing stage.
